Livelihood Improvement for Earthquake Affected People - LIFE

Project Period:      July 2017 - July 2019

Objective:  1. Restore food security and rebuild community infrastructure in support of Nepal’s recovery from the earthquake

                2. Support the restoration of livelihoods and enhance community resilience to future shocks

Project Location:  Laprak, Gumda, Kashigoan, Uiya and Sirdibas Villages of Gorkha District

 

Integrated, inclusive and resilient rehabilitation of earthquake-affected communities through Building Back Better approach

Locations: Rasuwa district

Project Outcomes:

  • Enhanced diversified and resilient livelihood options of targeted households.
  • Improved culturally appropriate and dignified WASH practices being adopted amongst targeted earthquake-affected households and communities.
  • Strengthened community resilience and mainstreaming of DP/DRR and CCA in livelihood, community infrastructure and WASH.

Location: Kailali and Sarlahi

Objective:

A. Flood-affected households (HHs) have received life saving emergency support while maintaining wellbeing and dignity.

B. Flood-affected HHs have access to basic services, have restored their livelihoods, and are prepared for possible future disasters

Nepal Development Program

It is a basket program funded by different support partners.

Location: 31 VDCs in Jhapa, Morang, Lalitpur, Dailekh, Kailali and Doti districts

Objectives: (i) To enable people and communities to effectively respond to and timely recover from disasters and emergencies; (ii) To enable priority populations achieve adequate livelihood without compromising on the livelihood of future generations; and (iii) To empower priority populations to participate in decisions affecting them, in improved local governance and to advocate for their rights.

Project Objectives:

Project Objective: Provide immediate assistance to flood affected communities though improving WASH, Shelter and Livelihood aftermath of severe flood caused by monsoon rains

Advancing Freedom of Haliyas, Kamaiyas and Kamlaris

Location: Baitadi, Doti, Kailali, and Kanchanpur districts

Objective: To advance socio-economic condition of freed Haliyas, ex-Kamaiyas and Kamlaris enhancing their access to livelihood assets and promoting equality and non-discrimination.

Duration: 1 Jan. 2015 to 31 Dec. 2017

Nepal Flood Disaster Response in Morang district

Location: Morang district

Project Objective: The objective of the project is to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity.

Outcomes:

  • Increased access to safe water and basic sanitation (WASH)

  • Restoration of livelihood options through improved assets (livelihood)-cash for work

Objective: Saved lives, alleviated suffering and maintained human dignity of flood affected Santhal communities in Jhapa district of Nepal

Livelihood Recovery of People affected by Earthquake (LIRE) Project

Title of the Project:    Livelihood Improvement of the Earthquake affected people in Nepal - LIRE

Total Project Period:   1.5 years (July 2017 - Dec 2018)

Objective:   To recover and improve livelihoods of the earthquake affected small holder farmer increasing resiliency through climate smart agriculture

Project Location:   Three Wards Bhattedanda, Ghusel and Malta of Bagmati Village Municipality, Lalitpur 

Resilient Livelihood and Sustainable Food Security

Location: 6 VDCs in Dailekh and Doti districts

Objective: To achieve resilient livelihoods and sustainable food security by excluded and marginalized women and men.

Duration: Nov. 2013 to Dec. 2015

Financial support: DCA, ICCO and LWF (ACT Nepal Forum Consortium)

 

Emergency Response and Early Recovery Support

Location: 2 VDCs each in Bardiya and Kailali districts

Objectives: (i) To provide life-saving and psychosocial support to the severely affected and displaced households in priority areas by providing food, non-food items and psychosocial counselling; (ii) To restore agriculture and non-agriculture means of livelihood through on- and off-farm supports; (iii) To rehabilitate WASH, shelter and critical lifelines facilities through food for work or cash and voucher transfer; and (iv) To restore education facilities, promoting education in emergency approach.

Improving the resilience of rural livelihood options for IDPs - Freed Haliya communities in Nepal

Locations: Doti, Baitadi and Bajura districts

Objectives: To improve dignified living of the internally displaced peoples- especially freed Haliyas communities through empowerment focused development and advocacy for their rights and access to sustainable livelihoods assets

Duration: 1 February 2018 to 31 January 2021

Promoting Women's Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

Location: 8 VDCs in Lalitpur district

Objective: To develop women-led local institutions for promoting economic, social and cultural rights of poor and marginalized women.

Duration: 1 Jan. 2014 to 31 Dec. 2016

Improving Food Security in South and Southeast Asia

Location: Banke, Kailali, Doti and Achham districts

Objective: To strengthen small/marginal farmers’ organizations from the most deprived communities in Nepal to network, engage in and impact local, national and regional policy dialogues (at South and Southeast Asia levels) on food and nutrition security.

Duration: 1 Oct. 2013 to 30 Sept. 2018

Promoting Community-based Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Location: 7 VDCs in Dailekh district

Objectives: (i) To empower communities, specifically women and girls, demand and achieve sustainable access to and use of safe water, sanitation and hygienic living conditions; and (ii) To engage relevant service providers in the business and public sectors and civil society to respond to the needs for sustainable, accessible, affordable and demand-driven WASH services.

Building Koshi River-Basin Communities Resilient

Location: 8 VDCs in Saptari and Udayapur districts

Location: Refugee camps in Jhapa and Morang districts

Objective: To provide care and maintenance support to refugees from Bhutan.

Objective: To distribute food and non-food items to refugees from Bhutan through various committees of elected representatives of refugees.
