LWF Nepal and Caritas Nepal Sign an MoU

Kathmandu, 10 November 2017 – In the spirit of the Declaration of the Intent between Caritas Internationalis and The Lutheran World Federation – World Service, The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Nepal and Caritas Nepal have agreed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at country level to work together for the common good of the people we serve in Nepal. Both organisations have been working together for decades addressing the root causes of poverty and humanitarian crises. The initiative has been developed as a result of increasing recognition among the two organization’s’ expertise and capacities in the fields of long-term development, and humanitarian programme, similarities of overall goals and priorities and each other’s commitment to the people of Nepal.

Dr Prabin Manandhar, Country Director of LWF Nepal, and Fr. K.B. Bogati, Executive Director of Caritas Nepal, signed the MoU amid a function at Caritas Nepal office today.

The main purposes of 5-year general MoU is to institutionalize the long-standing partnership and work collectively in fundraising, develop common tools and instruments, exchange good practices and learning and complement each other wherever possible. Both organizations have agreed to nominate a focal person to draw an action plan and carryout periodic reviews to analyze progress, achievements and challenges to re-strategize collective efforts. Mr. Hari Awasthi, Program Coordinator, LWF Nepal and Mr. Laxmi Joshi, Program Manager, Caritas Nepal have been nominated as focal persons.

Mr. Allan Calma, Regional Program Coordinator, LWF-WS said that he was impressed by the collective efforts made so far and added that it is the first MoU signed at Country level.

“This MoU opens avenues to work together in many areas,” Fr. K.B Bogati said.

Dr. Manandhar said, “we will start whatever the small actions to be implemented jointly”. He also thanked both LWF Nepal and Caritas Nepal teams for making it to happen. We look forward to work together in the days to come, he added.
