Dr Prabin Manandhar, Country Director of LWF Nepal, and Ms Teressa Juhaninmaki, Regional Manager, Felm Nepal sign the MoU.

Kathmandu, 27 November 2017 – The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Nepal and Felm Nepal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at country level to work together.

Dr Prabin Manandhar, Country Director of LWF Nepal, and Ms Teressa Juhaninmaki, Regional Manager, Felm Nepal signed the MoU amid a function at LWF Nepal office here today.

The main objective of the MoU that ends on 31 December 2018 is to collaborate with each other for Flood Emergency Response in Sarlahi and Chitawan districts, regulate and harmonize the institutional relationship for quality, accountability and impact of the flood response.

Felm, one of the biggest development cooperation NGOs in Finland, have been working in Nepal since 1977. LWF Nepal, one of the leading humanitarian and development organizations, have been working in Nepal since 1984.

Both organizations have been working in Nepal for decades addressing the root causes of poverty and humanitarian crises. The partnership emerged from the shared vision and belief that together the organizations could do more in the fields of humanitarian and long-term development and fundraising.

The common areas of work and the commitment of both organizations to alleviate the suffering in the face of disaster and to reduce poverty among the people of Nepal through development work brought the two organizations together.

“This is an initiative to further amplifying the voices of the poor and empowering them and fighting to end inequality. It is not a project-based rather a strategic partnership,” Dr Manandhar said.

Ms Anu Vasamies-Hackenbruch, Manager, Development Cooperation (Nepal), Felm, said, “It is a very welcoming cooperation between Felm Nepal and LWF Nepal and I am quite happy about what have already been happening.”
